Tristan Norton
I N F O
I have lived and played professionally in San Francisco and elsewhere around the Bay Area for six years. I play multiple styles of guitar and electric bass including Jazz, Funk, Rock, Blues, and Experimental music. I have performed for venue shows, cafes, wine bars, restaurants, corporate events, and private events. I specialize in unaccompanied jazz guitar playing and jazz trio playing as background music for cafes, wine bars, corporate, and private events. I hold a Bachelor's of Music in Jazz Studies from the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley and am an instructor at the Cupertino Music Academy. I have had the opportunity to study with some of the best Bay Area musicians and teachers including jazz guitarists Mimi Fox, Randy Vincent, and Steve Erguiaga; bandleaders Marcos Silva, John Santos, Mike Zilber, Mark VW, Jeff Denson, Hafez Modirzadeh, and Wil Blades.

I am a composer of original music in all of the above styles and have a studio produced CD of original funk music and countless live recordings all representing the variety of different playing scenarios and styles. I can write arrangements for small/medium ensembles and notate charts and scores.

I also teach! Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced levels on guitar and electric bass in all of the above styles. As an instructor I aim to adapt to individual learning styles in order to improve the student's conceptualization of the learning process and their own capabilities and to provide them with fresh knowledge so that they are inspired to explore their instrument further and get the fulfillment of improvement and have fun doing it! In addition to private instrument instruction I also tutor in the subjects of Music Theory (both traditional /jazz theory) and Ear Training.

My going rate for lessons for adults is $40/hr, for children or teenagers $30/hr. Package deal includes 4 pre-paid lessons at $35/hr for adults, $25/hr for children or teenagers. I will come to you! Please see my Contact page and provide me with the student's instrument, level of playing ability (beg/int/adv), age (adult/child), and desired lesson time duration.
